At long last we are proud to offer an “American Horsebow.” The “Sky Dog” bow was designed by Trey Schlichting of “Schlick Concepts” and manufactured by custom bow builder Attila Keresztes here in the United States.
“Sky Dog” is based on the gullwing shape used by the Native American Plains tribe who hunted and fought from horseback. The “Sky Dog” is not a historical replica bow, as those already exist but “Sky Dog” is a modern American horsebow specifically designed for the sport and martial art of Mounted Archery. While the shape and spirit of the bow resembles the Plains Gullwing horsebow, “Sky Dog” is made with the latest materials and engineered for speed and performance. The limbs are made of bamboo and clear fiberglass raked forward to create early draw weight. The limb tips are stiffened making the working part of the bow concentrate in the middle of the limb. The results are an American flatbow that has performance characteristics that rival a recurve or Asiatic static tipped horsebow. The speed and performance of the “Sky Dog” lets North American Mounted Archers travel and compete with a bow that represents their own cultural heritage and not be forced to use an Asiatic design of another country.
“Sky Dog” is also a practical choice for hunting because when the bow returns to brace the string never comes in contact with the bow making it whisper quiet.
This bow was created for the “Cultural Heritage Project” charity that is dedicated to providing equipment and training to Native American youth, to regain the cultural skills lost over years of reservation life.
“Sky Dog” is available to the public for a limited time only at Attila’s Archery. This is your opportunity to have a bow that represents the Native spirit and design of an American Horse-Archer so don’t miss a chance to own a piece of history.
